"GEORGE GORDON, born 1692; educated at Marischal College, Aberdeen; schoolmaster of Rothes, 1710-12; licen. by Presb. of Strathbogie 20th June 1716; ord. to Boharm 2nd May 1717; called 23rd Jan. [in Oct. 1727, Charles, Earl of Moray, had pres. John Paul, min. of Rothes; the Presb. refused both calls 12th March, but that of G. on appeal was sustained by the Commission of Assembly, and he was pres. by the Presb. jure devoluto 8th Oct., the Earl of Moray consenting], trans, and adm. 21st Nov. 1728; died 3rd March 1752.

(1) 13th Jan. 1719, Elizabeth Gordon, who died in April (buried 25th) 1721, and had issue Isabel, died before 1744: (2) 9th Aug. 1722, Agnes (died 21st June 1770), second daugh. of Thomas Brodie of Pitgaveny, and had issue William, bapt. 17th June 1724; Jean, above the age of 16 in 1744 (marr. Duncan Shaw, D.D., min. of Aberdeen); Mary, born 17th Feb. 1729 (marr. James Munro, min. of this parish); Harie, min. of Ardersier, born 3rd June 1730; Barbara, born 24th Aug. 1736 (marr. Ebenezer Munro, merchant); George, born 3rd Oct. 1743, died 17th March 1748; James, born 2nd July 1745, died 1st July 1746; Thomas died young; David died young; Alexander, captain in the Army, born 30th Jan. 1750, died in India.
