John married Elizabeth GORDON 'of Cairnborrow', daughter of John GORDON of Botary, ancestor of the Gordons of Pitlurg and Elizabeth ABERNETHY.1 (Elizabeth GORDON 'of Cairnborrow' was born about 1439.)

  Marriage Notes:

"John, 2nd Forbes, Laird of Brux, married Elizabeth, daughter of Alexander Gordon of Cairnburrow, and had four daughters. One, Elizabeth, married William Forbes of Daach (see Pitsligo family). One married John Forbes of Clova, son of John Forbes in Terpersie of the Tolquhon family. On married Willirun Forbes of Terpersie, brother of above. One married Simon Grant. When John, the 2nd Laird, died he was succeeded either first by his brother Duncan, or immediately by his nephew, John, son of Duncan of Drummalachi e"

from House of Forbes

Note:

There was no "Alexander Gordon of Cairnburrow", the first laird of that designation being James Gordon later in the 15th century, of whom this Elizabeth Gordon would have been an aunt probably. Those following James were George and John. The Cornborrow Gordons descended from the Pitlurg Gordons, and by generation and date Elizabeth appears to fit here.
