"Robert, third Viscount of Arbuthnott, was baptized 8 October 1661, and served heir to his father 12 September 1682. He married, 3 May 1683, the Lady Ann Sutherland Gordon, daughter of George, fourteenth Earl of Sutherland (contract said to be dated at Newington, Middlesex, 23 April 1683, and thereafter 'extended at length, 16 October 1684 ').
