James Home senior, who was not present where the birth occurred, was the informant of his son, James Wight Home's birth before the registrar, George Mackie, at Insch on 1 February 1862.




James Home, who had not been present where the death of his father occurred, of 36 Prince Albert Buildings, Edinburgh, gave notice of his father's death before the registrar, George Mackie, at Insch on 22 December 1880.




The 1881 census for Edinburgh recorded James W. Home, born in Insch parish Aberdeenshire, living at 36 Prince Albert Buildings in the Canongate district. He was a student of Arts and lodged in the family of George and Marjory Grieve. There were four male non-family members resident including James, two were boarders and were employed, the other was also a lodger, a student in a training college.




The 1891 for Fife recorded James W. Home, born in Insch Aberdeenshire, living at Blackwood Place, Scoonie in Leven. He was 29 years of age and a certificated teacher. James was a lodger and unmarried.




In 1901 James W. Home, a trained certificated teacher in a B school, was living at Links Place Olive Cottage in Scoonie, Leven, Fife with his wife and daughter, according to the census of that year. His age was recorded as 39 years and he had been born in Insch, Aberdeenshire. 2 3 4 7 8 9
