"John Grant of Carron, only son and heir of John Roy Grant, made sole executor in his father's testament. He frequently appears as a witness during his father's lifetime, when he is designed 'apparent of Carron;' and as such he, on 18th November 1587, entered into a bond with John Grant of Freuchie, as his kinsman and chief, to possess the lands of Culquhoich, in Strathavon, and not dispose of them without his chief's consent, and also to serve his chief faithfully. He is said to have married a sister of Sir Thomas Gordon of Cluny. He appears to have died before 22d August 1607."
