The 1851 UK census for Edinburgh Greenside in Midlothian recorded Thomas Selcraig as head of a household living at 2 Simpson Court. With him lived his wife, Agnes and seven children of theirs. Thomas had been born in Largo Fife and was recorded as 48 years old. He was a journeyman shoemaker by occupation.


Thomas Selcraig was a grocer, according to the marriage certificate of his son, John, in 1863. ²

Thomas married Agnes BURNS on 31 July 1832 in Saint Cuthbert's Parish, Edinburgh, Scotland.¹ (Agnes BURNS was born about 1812 in Leith, Midlothian, Scotland.)
