Elizabeth married Sir Thomas MAULE of Panmure, 'the blind knight', son of Sir Thomas MAULE of Panmure and Mary ABERCROMBY.^{1 2} The marriage ended in divorce. (Sir Thomas MAULE of Panmure, 'the blind knight' was born about 1428 and died after 16 January 1497(1498) ¹.)

"Sir Thomas married, first, Elizabeth, younger daughter of David, third Earl of Crawford : he seems to have divorced her, apparently for no fault but because his brother-in-law, Sir David Guthrie, had attempted to divorce his sister on the ground that they were within the prohibited degrees. Lord Crawford had supported Guthrie in his contention, and Maule's revenge was to divorce Crawford's daughter in return. .... this story .... rests on the authority of the family chronicler of the seventeenth century ....
