When Ann Home died in 1860 she was recorded simply as the 'widow of a farmer'. Her age was recorded then as 65 years, and her parents were deceased. 3 4

  Research Notes:

CULSALMOND

This is about five or six miles north of Oyne.

  Medical Notes:

The cause of death was certified by Alexander Mitchell MD, who saw the deceased on 10 May 1860.

Ann Home was buried in Clatt Churchyard, as certified by James Ogilvie, grave digger.

Cathrine Home, daughter of the deceased woman who was present where the death occurred, gave notice of her mother's death before the registrar at Culsalmond on 26 May 1860. 4

Anne married Alexander HOME, son of James HOME in Pitmachie and Anne LEDINGAME.1 (Alexander HOME was baptised on 25 October 1776 in Oyne parish, Aberdeenshire, Scotland 3 and died Before 18 May 1860 but probably before 1851.)

  Marriage Notes:

No marriage record for this couple has been found.

The text of Katharine Home's baptism record in Clatt parish register in 1818 referred to her as 'lawful' child of her parents. This means her parents were married before her birth. A marriage between Alexander Home and Anne Reid therefore did take place.

It may have taken place in an Episcopal church rather than in the Established Church of Scotland, or it may have been a private ceremony, not recorded in the church registers. 1
