James married Margaret CARNEGIE, daughter of Sir Robert CARNEGIE 5th of Kinnaird and Margaret GUTHRIE, 13 June 1565(contract).1 2 (Margaret CARNEGIE was born about 1545 and died 9 January 1575(1576) 1 2.) Marriage Notes: "James Scrimgeour had a Crown charter on 30 June 1565 as son and heir of John Scrimgeour, Constable of Dundee, of the barony of Dudhope and other lands to himself, Margaret Carnegie his future spouse, and the heirs-male of their bodies...." James next married Magdalene LIVINGSTON, daughter of Alexander LIVINGSTON 5th Lord Livingston of Callendar and Agnes DOUGLAS, before 11 September 1581.1 (Magdalene LIVINGSTON was born about 1540.) Marriage Notes: "He (James Scrimgeour) married .... Secondly, before 11 September 1581, Magdalene, daughter of Alexander, fifth Lord Livingston, and relict of Sir Arthur Erskine, brother of John, Earl of Mar. They had a charter of Benvy at that date." |
