Magdalene married Arthur ERSKINE of Blackgrange, son of Sir John ERSKINE 5th Lord Erskine, 17th Earl of Mar and Margaret CAMPBELL, 7 January 1561(1562).1 (Arthur ERSKINE of Blackgrange was born about 1524 and died before January 1570(1571) 1.)


  Marriage Notes:

"Arthur Erskine of Blackgrange, referred to as brother of John, Lord Erskine, and Alexander Erskine, in December 1557. He was, it is said, Queen Mary's favourite equerry, and was in personal attendance on her the night Rizzio was murdered. He married, (contract dated 7 January 1561-62) Magdalen Livingstone, daughter of Alexander, fifth Lord Livingstone, and died without issue before January 1570-71, when his brother Alexander was his heir."

Magdalene next married Sir James SCRIMGEOUR Constable and Provost of Dundee, Lord Dudhope, son of John SCRIMGEOUR of Dudhope, Constable of Dundee and Unknown, before 11 September 1581.2 (Sir James SCRIMGEOUR Constable and Provost of Dundee, Lord Dudhope was born about 1536 and died on 13 July 1612 2.)


  Marriage Notes:

"He (James Scrimgeour) married .... Secondly, before 11 September 1581, Magdalene, daughter of Alexander, fifth Lord Livingston, and relict of Sir Arthur Erskine, brother of John, Earl of Mar. They had a charter of Benvy at that date."
