"The Genealogie of Jock the Heretrix Brother begotten on McLeud of Harris Daughter.

The said John Gordon as is storied was sent to Mcleod of Harris Family of purpose to care for his Education in the Highland Tongue which was then of no small accent ; and having there contracted an Intimacy with his daughter Hanault [Hamiltone1 MS. of 1644.] McLeod being the second daughter and sister to the Lady Mcintosh att that time, on her he begat a Son called Alexander Gordon of Essy of whom Buckie is come. His Father dyed in Essy and was interred in the Kirk of Essy. The said Alexander Gordon his eldest Son (begotten before his Fathers marriage with the Laird of Gights daughter Maitland) succeeded to his Possession of Essy and married the Laird of Ballquhoins Daughter Lesly"
