"Alexander Innes was the son of Robert Innes of Rothmakenzie and Cromey and Margaret Ann Meldrum. He married unknown daughter Hay of Lochloy. He died before 1547. He was wadsetter of Blackhills."

Alexander, of Plaidds and Cadboll, Constable of Orkney, Captain of Kirkwall Castle, and Hereditary Baillie of the Immunities of Tain, who married Isobel, daughter of, I think, the first or second Innes of Drainie, and left issue from whom the Inneses of Leuchars (On 22 Dec. 1602 it was alleged that John Innes of Leuchars and James Innes of Drainie were '2nd and 3rd of kin.' - Kerr V. Innes, A. & ., cciv., 162.), Dunkinly, Blackhills, Dippell, Lichnett, and Redhall."
