John and Alison Nisbet and their three children were recorded by the 1841 UK census for Innerleithen Peeblesshire living at Pirn. Robert, the youngest child was recorded as 1 year of age and born in Peeblesshire.

Robert Nisbet was a witness at the marriage of William Nisbet and Jessie Stark at Innerleithen on 16 August 1872. It was probably this man. 2
