The 1851 census for Innerleithen recorded Thomas Nisbet living at Pirn Park with his family. He was 6 years of age, born in Innerleithen, and recorded as a scholar.

In the 1861 census for Innerleithen, Peeblesshire, Margret [sic] Nisbet was recorded as a widow and head of a household living at Horsburgh Terrace, Innerleithen. With her lived her daughter and son and two female lodgers. her son, Thomas, was recorded as 15 years of age and had been born in Innerleithen. He was a scholar. 2
