"Baptisms 1836 Findlater Alexander Findlater late in Balhagardy had a Daughter born of Elizabeth Clarke an unmarried woman in Harlaw on the 30th March 1836, baptized on the 20th of April, and named Mary in the presence of Charles Gibb & Willm Duncan both in Harlaw. George Findlater standing sponsor the father being dead"

The 1851 census for Bogend in Oyne parish, Aberdeenshire, recorded Mary Findlater, a granddaughter of the head of the household, living with her family there. She was recorded as 13 years old, though she was about 15 years old, and had been born in Chapel of Garioch parish. She was described as the 'employed at home'.

"199. Flat - Here lies the body of JEAN WATT spouse of WILLM FINDLATER. She died in the year 1798 aged 58 years…….. Here lies the body of ALEXR FINDLATER son of GEORGE FINDLATER farmer in Bogend who died 20 Dec 1809 aged 12. Also above GEORGE FINDLATER who died 18th May 1852 aged 79 years, and JAMES who died in infancy. In memory of MARY FINDLATER wife of CHARLES FORBES who died 13th May 1862 aged 25 years. The said CHARLES FORBES died June 1862 aged 30 years. ELSPET HOME wife of the above GEORGE FINDLATER who died 17thDecr 1866 aged 88 years, their daughter JANE who died ? March 1869 aged 60 years. JAMES FINDLATER son of the above CHARLES FORBES died 19 May 1878 aged 16 years."
