"Charles M'Pherson, born 20th Sept. 1791, eldest son of Cosmo M., farmer, Ellic in Kirkmichael ; educated at Marischal College, Aberdeen; M.A. (1821) ; schoolmaster of Kirkmichael, 1813-27 ; licen. by Presb. of Abernethy 24th Nov. 1825 ; pres. by George IV. 15th June, and ord. 25th Sept. 1827 ; first min. of the parish 25th June 1845 ; died at Chapelton near Forres, 4th Jan. 1846. He marr. 5th July 1832, Mary (died at Tarland, 9th Nov. 1876, aged 75), daugh. of James Farquharson, Belnabodach, Strathdon, and had issue Major James Farquharson, 62nd Foot, born 11th Nov. 1835, died 20th Dec. 1912; Margaret Isabella, born 11th April 1837 (marr.
