Instrument narrating that Alexander Straquhyne of Ledinturk, Sir James Hunter, chose John Valentyne, son of Thomas Walentyne alias Clark, as parish clerk of said parish; also ...John Elder, parishioners of the said parish, and lastly on 24 Jun 1524 John, usufructuar of Monimvsk within the monastery of M., and William Mortimer of Craigiuer, Alexander Fardil, Duncan Toucht, Walter Thome, Thomas Walcar, Duncan Mortimer and William Sovter gave their votes to said John [Valentyne] 5th to enjoy and possess said office of parish clerk with all emoluments when it shall be ed by the demission, resignation or decease of Thomas Clark, clerk of the same, who asked instrument. Done in said parish between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. 24 Jun 1524. Witnesses, John Makky, Alexander Coblair and John Mortimer. 11a.
