Son of the Rev Robert Irvine, Minister of Towie, and his second wife, Agnes, daughter of Patrick Murray of Blairfindy. Married in 1710 Margaret, daughter of Sir John Reid, 1st Baronet of Barra. He left two sons and two daughters."

"(1745) Irvine, Adam

Bruchly, Down, Banff. Son of the Rev Robert Irvine, Minister of Towie, and his second wife, Agnes, daughter of Patrick Murray of Blairfindy. In 1710 he married Margaret, daughter of Sir John Reid, 1st Baronet of Barra against her parents' wishes. They arranged to be married in the wood nearby her home, by an old minister named Donald Mackintosh. When a few days later, this was discovered, the bride's father turned her out and she joined her husband. They had two sons, Robert and Kenneth, and two daughters, Margaret and Barbara. Lurking after Culloden."
