She was the second wife of William Nisbet, a plumber, and mother to two small children named in the census entry and one step daughter from her husband's first marriage. Aged 28 years, she had been born in Haddington.

The 1901 census for Edinburgh Newington recorded Margaret C. Nisbet living with her husband and five children at 31 A Minto Street. Her children were aged from 3 years to 12 years. Margaret was recorded as 38 years of age and had been born in Haddington.

LADY YESTER'S CHURCH

This church was founded originally on the site of the priory of the Blackfriars in Edinburgh by Lady Margaret Kerr, wife of the 7th Lord Hay, James, of Yester. It was completed in 1647 in High Street Wynd, then damaged by the Cromwellian forces in 1650. The present structure replaced it in 1804-5. Situated in Infirmary Street Edinburgh it is now part of the University of Edinburgh joinery shop.

Alexander Nisbet, Margaret's son, of Johnstone Avenue, Edinburgh, was the informant of her death. 3


Margaret married William NISBET, son of Alexander Sandilands NISBET (DNA Linked) and Isabella HAIMES (DNA Linked), on 31 December 1886 in 2 Greenhill Place, Edinburgh, Scotland. (William NISBET was born on 11 May 1860 in Newtonport, Haddington, East Lothian, Scotland 8 12 and died on 17 September 1915 in Longmore Hospital, Edinburgh, Scotland.). The cause of his death was malignant disease of the bowel over 1 year.3


  Marriage Notes:

The marriage took place after banns according to the forms of the Church of Scotland. The Minister of Lady Yester's Church, Charles McGregor, presided. The witnesses were G. Nisbet and Ellen Caldwell.

William Nisbet was a widower of 26 years living at 5 Brown Street Edniburgh. He worked as a plumber.

Margaret Caldwell was a domestic servant and unmarried. She was aged 24 years and of 19 Mayfield Gardens Edinburgh. Her parents were James Caldwell, a maltman, and Margaret Cairns, both of whom were living.

The marriage was registered on 6 January 1887 at Edinburgh, R. W. Charlton being the signing registrar.
