"I do not have any evidence that he (Sir John Falconer, died 1670) was ever 'of Balmakellie' - the earliest reference that I have found for John Falconer of Balmakellie is on 13-Jan-1670 (Register of the Privy Coucil, Series 3, Volume 3, p 124), and since it doesn't say 'Sir' it's not him (it's his son)."
