This was the second child of this family to be given this name.

William James Hardie was recorded as 5 years of age by the 1881 census for St Giles Edinburgh, where he lived with his parents at 7 Hay Street.

In 1891 Wm. Jas. Hardie was recorded living with his family in Newington registration district, in the civil parish of Edinburgh St Cuthbert's. He was the third of the six children living with his father at 23 Lutton Place. Wm. Jas. Hardie was recorded as 16 years old, born in St Giles parish, Edinburgh, and was a scholar.

The 1901 census for Edinburgh St Leonard's recorded William Hardie living with his family at 23 Lutton Place, Newington. His age was noted as 25 years and his birthplace as Edinburgh. He was a musician by occupation.


William married Ellen DAKIN. (Ellen DAKIN was born about 1880 and died after 1940.)
