  Research Notes:

DAUGHTER OR SISTER

Jean Sandilands is reported by Fasti Ecclesiae as the daughter of James Sandilands, Commissary of Aberdeen. He did have a daughter, Jean, but she lived too late to be mother of the children referred to. It is likely that this Jean was sister to the Commissary, and not his daughter, and was therefore the daughter of James Sandilands of Craibstone who was also a member of the Faculty of Advocates. 5

Jean married Doctor William GORDON Professor of Medicine at Aberdeen, son of George GORDON 3rd of Coclarachie and Bessie DUNCAN, on 31 July 1626 in Old Machar parish, Aberdeen, Scotland.1 2 (Doctor William GORDON Professor of Medicine at Aberdeen was born about 1598 and died after 1649 6.)
