Alexander married Elizabeth GORDON, daughter of George GORDON 6th Earl, then 1st Marquis of Huntly and Henrietta STEWART, 29 April and 4 May 1611(contract).1 (Elizabeth GORDON was born about 1594 and died in July 1616 in Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland 1 3.). The cause of her death was problems connected to childbirth.

This cost the minister of Slamannan, who married them, the penalty of deposition. She died in childbed in July 1616. By her the Earl had a son, George"
