These birth dates are likely a typographical or authorial error. They do not fit the generational pattern of dates. Moreover in the same text the House of Forbes author states that Nathaniel, George's son, was born in 1676. This birth year is borne out by the baptism record in the parish register. ^{1 2}

William had a relationship with Agnes MACINTOSH, daughter of William MACINTOSH 6th of Kyllachy and Marjory FARQUHARSON.^{2 3} (Agnes MACINTOSH was born about 1630.)

The Strathdon parish register of marriages for 1700 names Barbara Forbes, wife of Patrick Grant younger of Tullochgorum, as

"Barbra forbes laull (with abbreviation) daughter to george forbes of Skelater".

This would make Barbara a granddaughter of this laird rather than his daughter. ^{2 5}

William next married Janet FORBES on 6 April 1684 in Strathdon parish, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.⁴ (Janet FORBES was born about 1655.)
