he Red Book of Scotland names only Mary Lamont as Archibald Campbell's wife and all of his children are of the same mother. (see below)




"Archibald Campbell of Lochawe, had a grant from Mary, Countess of Menteith, of the whole lands of Kilmun which was confirmed by charter under the Great Seal of King David II. on 11 October 1363, and in which he is styled the King's cousin and son of the deceased Sir Colin Campbell. He had a further charter under the Great Seal of David II., confirming all grants to him of the lands Craignish, Melfort, Strachur all in Argyleshire, together with those rights enjoyed by his ancestor Duncan MacDowne in the barony of Lochawe, dated 15 March 1369.

He m. Mary, daughter of Sir John Lamont of that Ilk, and d. by 13 January 1393-94, when his son Colin had succeeded him. He was father of :

1. Sir Colin Cambel of Lochow, (see below).

2. Duncan Cambel, said to be the ancestor of the family of Stronchormaig.

3. Helen Cambel, m. Duncan, son of Walter, son of Alan, (Dispensation dated April 1373)."
