Janet married John HAMILTON 3rd of Orbiston, son of Gavin HAMILTON 2nd of Orbiston and Marion WALLACE 'of Cairnhill'.¹ (John HAMILTON 3rd of Orbiston was born about 1528 and died on 14 May 1568 in Battle of Langside, near Glasgow, Scotland ¹.)

  Marriage Notes:

"John Hamilton, 3rd of Orbiston was the son of Gavin Hamilton, 2nd of Orbiston and Marion Wallace of Cairnhill. He married Margaret (see Note below) Hamilton, daughter of John Hamilton, 2nd of Haggs and Janet Maxwell. He died on 14 May 1568, killed fighting for Mary, Queen of Scots.

He fought in the Battle of Langside on 14 May 1568. In 1570 his estates were confiscated by the Regent Moray and Orbieston House was burned by the English."

(a) John (No. 180).

(b) Gavin Hamilton, Bishop of Galloway. His Will recorded 16th June 1612 (Hamilton and Campsie). He married Alison, daughter of James Hamilton of Bothwellhaugh, and had : -

(1) John Hamilton of Inchgottrick."
