  General Notes:

George Crerar, widower, gave notice of his wife's death before the registrar, Alexander Adams, at Edinburgh on 7 April 1884. Her death certificate recorded him as a mechanical engineer.

In his own 1904 death certificate George Crerar was recorded as 76 years old at death, and had been married to Helen Winton and then to Jane Newsome or McArthur. His parents Peter Crerar, a seal engraver, and Elizabeth Urquhart were both deceased. 3 5

  Medical Notes:

James G. Crerar, son of the deceased, of 2 Windsor Street, and who was present where the death occurred, was the informant of his father's death.


George married Helen WINTON, daughter of Robert WINTON (DNA Link) and Helen WEBSTER, on 2 June 1851 in High Church parish, Edinburgh, Scotland.1 (Helen WINTON was born on 6 May 1830, baptised on 27 May 1830 in Saint Cuthbert's parish, Edinburgh, Scotland 6 7 and died on 5 April 1884 in 25 Barony Street, Edinburgh, Scotland 5.). The cause of her death was morbus cordis.3
