Further news of the boy for whom a tutor is required - the young laird of Garshore, who stays with his aunt, Mr [sic] Douglas, having run away to her from his curators in Edinburgh; the difficulty is that his curators may insist on the preceptor being qualified by taking the oaths, as his aunt is known to be a Jacobite."

Note:
The aunt referred to above is Sophia Gartshore, born 1676, daughter of Alexander Gartshore and his wife Sarah Brand, who married William Douglas in 1698. She was John Gartshore's great-aunt.
"Alexander Gartshore held the property (Gartshore estate) in 1713, and in 1771 John Gartshore was registered in it as heir to his grandfather. Miss Marjory Gartshore, his sister German, and only child of the deceased John Gartshore, merchant in Glasgow, succeeded in 1806 to the estates. She died 9th January, 1814, and was succeeded by John Murray, second son of Sir Patrick Murray, sixth Baronet of Ochtertyre, who assumed the name of Gartshore."
