Christian married Gilbert SKENE 8th of that Ilk, son of Alexander SKENE 7th of that Ilk and Mariota KINNAIRD, by 23 May 1481(charter).1 (Gilbert SKENE 8th of that Ilk was born about 1445 and died by 19 March 1485 1.)

"In May, 1470, Gilbert Skene is infeft as heir, served and retoured, to Alexander Skene, his father, in the lands and barony of Skene.

In 1481 he married Cristina Mercer, and settled two farms in Wester Skene as her jointure lands, as appears from a Crown charter granted in 23rd May, 1481

'Gilberto Skene de eodem et Cristine Mersare sponse sue in conjuncta infeodatione et post eorum decessum legitimis et propinquioribus heredibus dicti Gilberti quibuscunque de terris de Adloche et Tulivale cum pertinentiis Jacentibus infra vicecomitatum de Aberdene super resignationem dicti Gilberti. The Scots Peerage, vol. 4, states that there was one Christian Mercer, daughter of the provost of Perth, married to both Gilbert Skene of Skene and Duncan Forbes of Corsindae. Other sources differ. This site follows stirnet. com here, which lists two women named Christian Mercer, of two different fathers, each woman married to one husband. 1 2 3
