FORBES, William of Invernochty ²

  General Notes:

Alexander Forbes of Invernochty appears a number of times in the parish registers of Strathdon parish between 1675 and the early 1700s, as does his son William. For example in 1698:
"9 Feb The sd day Wm glashen in toldechul had a son baptized William witnese Alexr Forbes of Invernochtie(?) And his son William Forbes"
and in 1700
"March 19th - Wm Kelles in Invernochtie had a daughter baptized Isobel witneses Wm forbes sone to Invernochtie and William Downie in bleniden brother in law to the sd Wm Kelles". ⁴

William married Agnas COUPLAND, daughter of Reverend Mr Patrick COPLAND Minister of Cushnie and Jean GORDON, on 2 October 1702 in Strathdon parish, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.¹ (Agnas COUPLAND was born about 1680.)

"August 16 - Wm forbes eldest son to Alexander forbes of Invernochtie being contracted with Agnas Coupland eldest daughter to Mr Patrick Coupland Minister of the Gospel at Cushney were proclaimed pro prime / 23 of August pro 2d / and 30 August pro fortie and therafter I married them at the kirk of Cushey upon thursday the [twenty] second day of October 1702" ¹
