  Marriage Notes:

"The eldest son was Archibald, Sheriff-clerk of Moray, known as the 'Muckle Clerk' (to distinguish him from his suceessor Patrick, known as 'Little Clerk Duff,' brother of the junior John Duff, Provost). Archibald married his own first cousin (his mother's niece), Jane Stewart of Lesmurdie. He resided at Bilbohall, near Elgin, then the property of George Duff of Milton, Convener of the County, to whom he probably paid a nominal rent. At his death, in 1798, his assets appear to have amounted to £14. He had one son, William, who predeceased him."
