He commanded about two hundred of the clan at the battle of Sheriffmuir. Roderick the chief, though present, was a minor and too young and inexperienced to assume the command himself. John was one of those who, along with The Chisholm and several other Highland chiefs and gentlemen signed an address, couched in the most loyal terms, to George I. on his accession to the British Crown in 17 14, though they all fought against him, under the Earl of Mar, at Sheriffmuir, in 1715." John married Daughter GRANT, daughter of John GRANT 4th of Corrimony, Chamberlain of the Lordship of Urquhart, and Katherine MACDONALD 'of Sleat'.1 2 (Daughter GRANT was born about 1668.) Marriage Notes: "John (Chisholm) married a daughter of Grant of Corriemony, with issue, two sons and five daughters" |
