HALIBURTON, James of Pitcur and Gask 1User ID: K684. General Notes: "His father died while James (Haliburton) was young. Following the death of William Haliburton, George Blair of Bendochy husband of Isabel Halyburton purchased the marriage of the heir who was still a minor for the sum of £100 Scots. On the death of his grandfather John Halyburton of Gask about 1511, James Halyburton became the laird of Gask and inherited the considerable estate in Angus, Perthshire and Inverness and Ross. James took sasine of the lands of Pitcur in the county of Forfar and lands of Drumblade in Aberdeenshire in 1511.[1 The exchequer rolls of Scotland Vol. XIII p.664] |
