"In 1588 another agreement was made between the elder Melville (John Melville) and his wife (Isobel Lundie) and the younger Melville, restating the terms of the previous contract, but omitting the clauses as to the two jointures chargeable on the estate. The provisions for the laird's younger children are also more clearly defined, and arrangements made for their payment. In the following January Isobel Melville, daughter of the laird, married George Auchinleck, son of George Auchinleck of Balmanno. Her father promised with her a dowry of 5000 merks."
