  Marriage Notes:

"16 Sep 1496 Precept by John Spark of Bartanholm to infeft William Cunnyngham of Cragannys and Marion Auchinleck, his spouse, in the lands of Bartanholm and Snodgers"

from GD148/49

"He (George Campbell) is said to have married .... secondly, Marion, probably daughter of Sir John Auchinleck of that Ilk, who survived him, and was married, secondly, to William Cunningham, as appears from a decreet dated 6 March 1504, narrating that there appeared Hew Campbell of Loudoun on the one part, and Marion Auchinleck, Lady of Loudoun, and William Cunningham, her spouse, on the other, and that the said Hew obliged himself to pay to the said Marion and William the sum of 230 merks owing to them for the assedation made by them to the said Hew of said Marion's terce and the third part of the lands pertaining or that may pertain to her by reason of the decease of umquhile George Campbell of Loudoun, Sheriff of Ayr, her spouse, in terms of an indenture made between the said Hugh and Marion and William, dated at Edinburgh 7 March 1502."

from Scots Peerage (vol 5)

"Robertson states, that David Cuninghame of Bartonholme was the ancestor of this family (Cuninghame of Robertland), and that he was the only son of the second marriage of the first William Cuninghame, of Craigends with Dame Marion Auchinleck, to whom he was married in 1499. This seems probable enough ; at least that there was a family relationship, appears from the intercourse between the houses in subsequent times."

"Mariota Auchinleck, m. firstly, as second wife, to George Campbell of Loudoun, and surviving him she m. secondly, to William Cunningham of Craigends, (he was widow of Elizabeth, sister and heiress of William Stewart of Arthurlee, by whom he had issue), and to whom her father granted a charter for the lands of Auchinleck on 23 May 1499.3[3 GD148/5]."
