DALMAHOY, Thomas of the Priory, near Guildford 1User ID: M714. Thomas married Elizabeth MAXWELL, daughter of James MAXWELL Earl of Dirleton, Lord Kingston and Elbotle and Unknown, on 19 June 1655.1 (Elizabeth MAXWELL was born about 1620,1 died in 1659 1 and was buried on 2 September 1659 in St Martin's in the Fields, London, England 1.) Marriage Notes: "Elizabeth, married .... secondly, 19 June 1655, to Thomas Dalmahoy of the Priory, near Guildford, who had been Gentleman of the Horse to her former husband. He was third son of Sir John Dalmahoy of that Ilk, was member of Parliament for Guildford, and Master of the Buckhounds to Charles II. He is described by Pepys as 'Mr. Dormer Hay, a Scotch gentleman ... a very fine man.' Bishop Burnett calls him 'a genteel generous man.' " |
