Elizabeth married William HAMILTON Earl of Lanark, 2nd Duke of Hamilton, son of James HAMILTON 2nd Marquess of Hamilton, Earl of Cambridge and Anne CUNNINGHAM, on 26 May 1638.¹ (William HAMILTON Earl of Lanark, 2nd Duke of Hamilton was born about 1616 ¹ and died on 12 September 1651 ¹.). The cause of his death was wounds received at the Battle of Worcester.

"Elizabeth, married, first, 26 May 1638, at the age of eighteen, to William, second Duke of Hamilton, who was mortally wounded at the battle of Worcester, and died 12 September 1651, aged thirty-four ...."

"Elizabeth, married .... secondly, 19 June 1655, to Thomas Dalmahoy of the Priory, near Guildford, who had been Gentleman of the Horse to her former husband. He was third son of Sir John Dalmahoy of that Ilk, was member of Parliament for Guildford, and Master of the Buckhounds to Charles II. He is described by Pepys as 'Mr. Dormer Hay, a Scotch gentleman ... a very fine man.' Bishop Burnett calls him 'a genteel generous man.' "
