  General Notes:

"SIR WILLIAM STEWART, second of Garlies in this line, is believed to be identical with the *'Willielmus Stewart, scutifer,' who witnessed a charter in favour of Sir John Stewart of Darnley on 17 July 1428. He appears as ' Sir William Stewart, Knight,' in a grant of the Kirk of Kirkmaho to the Cathedral of Glasgow made by his mother in 1429, with the consent of himself as her 'son and heir,' and of her husband Sir John Forrester of Corstorphine."
