DRUMMOND, Malcolm, Sir 1 2

  • Born: About 1240
  • Marriage (1): DE GRAHAM, Daughter 1

   User ID: V460.

  General Notes:

"MALCOLM, the next in succession, is said to be described in a charter of 1260 as son of Malcolm Beg. He was the first on record to assume the surname of Drummond or Drumman, adapted no doubt from the lands of Drymen or Drumman in Dumbartonshire."

from Scots Peerage 1

Malcolm married Daughter DE GRAHAM, daughter of Sir Patrick DE GRAHAM of Kincardine, Keeper of Stirling Castle and Annabella of Strathearn.1 (Daughter DE GRAHAM was born about 1258.)

  Marriage Notes:

".... a daughter, married to Sir Malcolm Drurumond, who flourished 1301-25, and was the mother, by him, of Margaret Drummond, married, first, to Sir John Logie, and, secondly, to David II."

from Scots Peerage (vol 6)

Note: This identification points to the wrong Malcolm Drummond, it would seem.
Sir Patrick Graham's daughter was the grandmother, rather than the mother, of the Margaret, (born 1340), who was consort of the Scots king. Scots Peerage (volume 7), below, identifies correctly the husband of Sir Patrick Graham's daughter as the grandfather of the king's consort.

"He (Malcolm Drummond, son of Malcolm Beg) is said to have married a daughter of Sir Patrick Grahame."

from Scots Peerage (vol 7) 1 2
