from History of Ayr 1

Janet next married Sir Patrick GORDON of Auchindown, Sheriff-Depute of Aberdeenshire, son of George GORDON 4th Earl of Huntly and Elizabeth KEITH Countess of Huntly, before 4 February 1577(1578).2 (Sir Patrick GORDON of Auchindown, Sheriff-Depute of Aberdeenshire was born about 1544 and died on 14 October 1594 in Battle of Glenlivet, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.)

  Marriage Notes:

"As Patrick Gordon of Auchindoun he had a charter from Sir George Barclay of Gartly of the barony of Barkley, co. Banff, 2 April 1582. He must have been knighted not long after, as he appears as Sir Patrick in a charter of the same year.

He and his wife had a charter of Auchindoun and Keithmore 18 December 1590, on the resignation of his brother James, who may have held it in wadset. He sold the lands on 2 May 1592 to Walter Ogilvy of Findlater, who nevertheless got a grant of them as forming part of Sir Patrick's forfeited estates. Sir Patrick was denounced a rebel 22 March 1591-92, for complicity in the attack of Donibristle and the murder of the Earl of Moray, and met his death at the battle of Glenlivet, 3 October 1594.

He married, (see Corrigenda 1 below) before January 1582-83, Agnes Betoun, natural daughter of Cardinal David Betoun and Mariota Ogilvy, and widow (see Corrigenda 2 below) of George Gordon of Gight. By his wife, who survived him, he does not appear to have had issue." (page 539)
