User ID: W976. General Notes: "John Leslie, designed of Parkhill. John Leslie, rector of Kynnore, brother-german of George, Earl of Rothes, got a charter of the king's lands of Parkhill in Fife, 24th March 1537. He was taken at the rout of Solway Moss in 1542, arid was released 1st July 1543, on payment of a ransom of 2000 merks. He aided his nephew Norman, Master of Rothes, in the murder of Cardinal Beaton, for which he was forfeited 14th August 1546." John married Euphemia MONCRIEF, daughter of Sir John MONCREIFFE 9th of that Ilk and Unknown, in 1526.1 (Euphemia MONCRIEF was born about 1505.) Marriage Notes: "It is said that he married Euphemia, second daughter of Sir John Moncrief, in 1526, and had two daughters." |
