  General Notes:

"In consequence of the supposed death of his son David (later 9th of that Ilk), Norman Leslie entailed the estates which his father had resigned to him on his own heirs-male, and failing them, on Sir George Leslie, whom he styles his consanguineus or cousin."

from Family of Leslie

Note:
It is not clear what the exact relationship was between George Leslie and Norman Leslie. The one offered here is speculative.

Norman married Unknown PARTNER. (Unknown PARTNER was born about 1320.)

  Marriage Notes:

"Sir George Leslie was brought in as heir of entail to the barony of Ballinbreich and others, in case of the failure of the heirs-male of Sir Andrew de Leslie, VIII. Dominus Ejusdem, and of his son Norman. But what was the exact degree of relationship between Sir Andrew de Leslie, VIII. Dominus Ejusdem, and Sir George Leslie of Rothes, or who was Sir George's father, has not been discovered."

from Family of Leslie (vol 2)

Note:
This scenario presented here is speculative, but based primarily on the recorded 'cousin' relationship to David Leslie, 9th of that Ilk and to Davi's father, Norman.
Had George Leslie been illegitimate it is unlikely he would have been included in the entail, since Sir Norman de Leslie, presented here as his father, also had a two younger brothers Walter and George, whose descendants would surely have taken precedence.
An unknown mother, first wife of his father, might also account for George Leslie's status as 'Dominus de Rothes'.

Norman next married Margaret LAMBERTON heiress.1 (Margaret LAMBERTON heiress was born about 1325.)

  Marriage Notes:

"Norman de Leslie married Margaret Lamberton, granddaughter and heiress of Alexander de Lamberton, and with her he got a good fortune. The marriage is documented by a charter granted by Margaret de Leslie, relict of the deceased Norman de Leslie, Knight, to her cousin, William Cuppyld, and Norman his son, of all and whole of the lands which formerly belonged to Alexander de Lamberton, her grandfather - namely, Lumlathyn and Cragoe in the county of Forfar, and Asdory in the county of Fife."

Norman de Leslie died before 11th February 1366. And he does not seem to have had any children by his marriage with Margaret Lamberton, since, according to the above charter, that lady's property, apparently in default of direct heirs, passed into the possession of her cousin, William Cuppyld."
