"William was the only son of Philip de Valognes and his unidentified wife. He became chamberlain upon his father's death in November 1215. William married Lora, daughter of Saer de Quincy, earl of Winchester (d. 1219), by whom he had three daughters: Lora, who married Henry de Balliol of Cavers (d. 1246) and who became chamberlain; Christiana, who married Peter de Maule; and Isabel, who married David Comyn of West Linton (PEB).
