Alexander married Janet GORDON, daughter of Sir John GORDON of Lochinvar and Kenmure and Elizabeth LINDSAY, 20 May 1486(contract).¹ (Janet GORDON was born about 1470.)

"7. Janet, married, first (contract dated 20 May 1486), to Alexander Stewart of Garlies ; and secondly, in 1503, to Sir William Keith of Innerugie."

"p. 152, after 1. 24, insert 'ALEXANDER STEWART, fourth of Garlies, succeeded his father in 1496, having sasine of these lands in that year (Exch. Rolls, x. 771). He died in 1500, having married Janet Gordon, who survived him and married, secondly, Sir William Keith of Inverugie (Acta Dom. Conc., xvii. 176)' He had issue :
1. ALEXANDER.
2. Walter, ancestor of Barclye. 3. Janet.
4. Elizabeth (Acta Dom. Conc., xxii. 161).'
