"Sir David Fitz Walter, second of Cadzow, died about 1376. Taken prisoner at battle of Neville's Cross, 1346 ; founded chaplainry in Glasgow Cathedral, 1361. He is said to have married a daughter of the Earl of Ross, by whom he had the following sons : -

(a) David (No. 4).

(b) Sir John Hamilton of Fingaltoun, ancestor of the Hamiltons of Preston (No. 513).

And possibly : -

(c) Walter Hamilton, said to be ancestor of the Hamiltons of Cambuskeith and Sanquhar (No. 545).

(d) Alan Hamilton of Larbert.
