James married Margaret SUTHERLAND, daughter of James SUTHERLAND of Kinminity, 'Tutor of Duffus' and Margaret SEATON, in 1673.1 2 (Margaret SUTHERLAND was born about 1636.) Marriage Notes: "James Irvine of Artamford, who succeeded in 1675, had married, in 1673, Margaret, daughter of James Sutherland of Kinminity. By her he had seven sons, the eldest of whom was Alexander, who, in or prior to 1703, sold Artamford, and purchased Crimond; and, in 1737, succeeded to Drum as heir of entail, when, as one of the heirs of entail who had already attempted to prevent the fraudulent alienation of the estates, he again commenced a suit, which was decided against him by the Scottish courts in 1741." |
