User ID: J29. General Notes: "In Letters of Reversion, 10 April 1563, Master David Borthwick of Lochhill describes William Borthwick of Soltray as his cousin (Laing Charters, 757). There is, however, nothing to show how the King's Advocate came into the pedigree. " (page 99 note 7) from Scots Peerage (vol 2) 3 David married Marion BLYTH by 5 June 1550.1 (Marion BLYTH was born about 1525.) Marriage Notes: ".... he (David Borthwick) was appointed Advocate to James VI. on 15 October 1573 and acquired the lands of Lochill in the sheriffdom of Edinburgh, by conjunct charter of 5 June 1550 to himself and Marion Blyth, his wife." David next married Marion GUTHRIE, daughter of Alexander GUTHRIE Burgess, Town Clerk of Edinburgh and Janet HENRISON.2 (Marion GUTHRIE was born about 1555 and died by 16 July 1592.)
