there was a change of minister in this parish around this time: Reverend Mr Theodore Gordon was transferred to Kennethmont parish on 20th June 1739 and Reverend Mr Thomas Gordon was ordained to the parish on 25th June 1740

"James Gordon in Bank" may be James Gordon of Banchory (1682-1751) a merchant, son of James Gordon of Ardmeally. No place or farm called "Bank" has been found. ^{2 3}
