John Shearer, Robert's son in law, who had been present where the death occurred and who resided at 160 Stobcross Street, gave notice of Robert's death before the registrar, Alexander Stuart, at Glasgow on 5 January 1875. ³

John married Margaret McGEORGE, daughter of Robert McGEORGE and Sarah McDOWALL, on 11 July 1862 in Blythswood, Glasgow, Scotland.^{1 2} (Margaret McGEORGE was born in 1838 in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland ^{4 5 6} and died after 10 February 1890 ^{1 5 6}.)
