MUIRHEAD, John of Brydinhill 1

  • Born: About 1598

   User ID: Z753.

  General Notes:

" John Muirhead of Brydinhill, named as James Muirhead, (8th) of Lauchope and Elizabeth (Houstoun)'s eldest son, apparently did not inherit the estate of Lauchope; the reason is not known. The inheritance of the estate of Lauchope possibly went to John's younger brother, James, because he already possessed the estate of Brydinhill."

from Mother Bedford website 1

  Research Notes:

BRYDINHILL

"Braidenhill formerly belonged to the Muirheads, and now to the laird of Ruchsoills."

A footnote to the page also says

"The eldest son (not named) of John Muirheid of Brydenhill is a legatee in the will of James Muirheid of Lawchope - Con. March 15. 1623"

from New Monkland in Sheriffdom of Lanark section (dated 1831)

Note: There are references in the 19th century documents to Braidenhill being the property of James Tennant, and then Waddell of Stonefield.
